Flood affected families rescued and got relief

The whitewashing flood devastated Gop block in September 2011. Thousands of families trapped by water logging in Gop. After flood water entered into the areas, the communication mediums like telephone, mobile networks, internet etc stopped to working except the radio. Radio Namaskar played a crucial role in rescue and relief distribution operation. At that time Radio Namaskar was on air for 24X7 hours. The water logging was severe for three days and it was not possible for the rescue team to find the trapped people. Radio Namaskar broadcast the important information and helpline number of rescue teams at that time. With involving the concerned Govt. officials, Radio Namaskar disseminated the emergency required information at that time. The people who were listening to Radio Namaskar started to responding with temporary halted mobile networks. The trapped people informed about their location to Radio Namaskar helpline number and it helped the rescue team to track them and resuce safely. After the water level came down and people started to returning to their homes, Radio Namaskar broadcast and conducted outreach activities to aware people about the post flood health infections, diseases etc. Radio Namaskar doesn’t limit itself only in rescue operation, but also informed the people about the location of relief distributions, linked them with food supplying agencies and govt officials for their support. More than 100 Below Poverty Line families of Shiripur village had not got the relief supply products. The villagers informed to Radio Namaskar team about their problems. After intervention of Radio Namaskar into this matter, Sarpanch of the GP and the concerned BDO immediately distributed the relief among these families. The villagers thanked to Radio Namaskar team. For the tremendous works by Radio Namaskar at the time of the disastrous flood in Gop, District administration as well as block administration appreciated these efforts and congratulate the whole Radio Namaskar team.
